Hawkeye Community College honors student Olivia Adams delivered more than 300 books to Lou Henry and Highland elementary schools recently. The books were collected as part of her service learning course, and will be used in kindergarten and first grade classes.
“I am very passionate about developing early reading skills,” said Adams, who has two elementary-aged children herself. “My goal for this project was to get more books into the hands of young readers. My hope is to help spread the spirit of reading since books can help children make sense of the world around them.”
Adams is currently enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program.
